What is Traffolyte?

Traffolyte is a hard-wearing, multi-layered plastic laminate traditionally used in electrical and mechanical labelling. During engraving, the top layer is etched away to reveal a contrasting colour underneath, resulting in clear, easy-to-read text that won’t fade, rub off, or peel.

Traffolyte or the New Modern Equivalent?

Traffolyte, also known as Traffolite, refers to a legacy engraving material that has largely been replaced by modern alternatives such as Laserables II, High-Pressure Laminates (HPL), or Engraving Laminates — all of which are perfectly suited for both laser and rotary engraving. While we still supply Traffolyte upon request, our standard offering is the newer, UV-stable materials that closely replicate the appearance of Traffolyte while providing enhanced durability and performance.
